Holy crap I’m sore – and my marathon training is a joke!

  • Wow – it’s been way to long since I’ve posted. The amount of emails I’m receiving from people asking for updates is overwhelming! </sarc >

I find that posting can be rather therapeutic sometimes, and I definitely use it to motivate me.  Since this is the first time I’ve logged in and posted anything in over a month, I was shocked to see my last post about marathon training beginning.  That was on 9/9/13 and I am no more ready for a marathon right now, than I was 6 weeks ago!  This reminds me of one of my favorite sayings I heard when I started this journey… “I’ve never regretted doing a workout, but I’ve definitely regretted not doing a workout.”  So, so true.

In the 6 weeks since my last post, I’ve managed to run maybe once or twice per week.  I’ve also managed to gain weight, and I’m almost back to my starting weight 2 or 3 years ago.  Granted I’m healthier than I was then as I can go run 3-4 miles anytime I want, but I’m heavier and don’t like how I look in the mirror right now, which leads me to the title of this post!

I decided that I’ve had enough of being lazy and gaining weight.  Through my insurance at work, I was able to get a membership at our local YMCA for only $25 per month! That’s a $30 per month savings!  I started checking out the classes they offer, and decided I was going to get up early and go to “boot camp” on Monday morning.  That was one hell of a class that included a lot of lunges!  My Quads, hamstrings and glutes were so sore that night.

The next day – I decided I was going to get up early and go swimming.  Give the legs a rest.  I found a “Cardio + Core” class on the calendar, and decided I was going to go to that.  I did not know that the “cardio” part was going to be a 30 minute spin class!  I thought I was sore after boot camp Monday.  Let’s put it this way – Today is Wednesday and I can’t hardly get out of a chair or my car.  Walking down stairs is excruciating, and I live in a 2 story duplex!  What have I done to myself?

I haven’t done crunches or any core work in over a year.  In my class yesterday, I did 30 mins of it. Wow do I hurt, AND I LOVE IT!

I’m going to Cabo in December, and I’m determined to be looking good when I take my shirt off at the beach.  This will happen.

I’m happy to be refocused and on my journey again.   Can’t wait to see where I end up this time! I have been wondering though – Since I gained back most of the weight I lost, and I’m working on losing it again – does this count as Yo Yo’ing?

    One Responseso far.
